Description: Community of Caring is the non-profit arm of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. We strive to enhance the lives of our members, local and global communities, through personal and professional development initiatives. We design, develop and execute solutions to assist you in reaching your full potential one person and one community at a time. Community of Caring works to establish and strengthen public, non-profit and private partnerships to make services to our members and community more accessible. We make a critical difference in the lives of people. Our organization is comprised of the following:
A.B.I.D.E. ® Wellness Center – providing lay counseling/coaching in the areas of General/Family, Children, Youth, Grief, Financial, Marital, Divorce, Mediation, HIV/AIDS and Reconciliation.- Health Connections - providing the best resources available for spiritual and physical health by performing needs assessments followed by the implementation of continuity of care plans to meet the identified needs.
- King’s Corner Christian Bookstore – Is open immediately after both services and provides Christian literature, media, and promotional products to aid in the spiritual growth and maturity of the New Salem congregation and the community. The King’s Corner Christian Bookstore also provides gifts and accessories.
- The Cornerstone Book Club is an extension of the King’s Corner Christian Bookstore. Participants meet on the second Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in New Salem’s Upper Room.
- Mentor Pathways Program - a mentoring program for children and youth designed to increase their self-esteem, self-confidence and life skills. The mentoring relationship provides career development, support, coaching, acceptance, and role modeling.
- Real Estate - New Salem Gardens - an eight-unit apartment complex located directly across from the church on Cleveland Avenue. Additionally, our Nehemiah Program assists seniors and persons with disabilities by providing free labor for minor home repairs.
Volunteer Opportunity: As a volunteer on the Community of Caring team, you will be exposed to the most exciting career adventures situated in a faith based environment. Our broad member base, in both the church and community arenas, provides challenging assignments that will exercise your skill sets in a variety of ways.
