Welcome to the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Department of Life Development, which serves the Youth and Young Adults of New Salem and the community. I greet you in the matchless name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We are well into a New Year filled with the promises of God’s Blessings. We pray that you are encouraged and determined to find Power in your Purpose in 2007. Pastor Troy has been preaching and encouraging the membership to know whom God has created you to be and to work diligently to fulfill your purpose in the world. The success of our teens depends upon them being able to identify the reason that they are here on the planet. We have an awesome team in the Dept. of Life Development and we invite you to find out more information and encourage the teens in your life to participate in the ministry opportunities available to them.
Youth Winter Ice Breaker

New Salem is blessed to have a rapidly growing youth department. In order to provide an opportunity for the youth to come together, meet new people, find out about ministry opportunities and play games, we are hosting a Youth Winter Ice Breaker.
Featuring: Comedian Keith Bender, Teen Soloist Misha Hemphill, Free Food, Games, Door Prizes and Much More!
All Youth, Grades Six through Twelve, are invited to participate.
Youth CARE Groups
It has been a pleasure watching our students get engaged with the curriculum and enjoy the Small Group Study. We celebrate the students who are participating and encourage those who are not to visit the group of their choice on Sunday mornings, 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. The benefit of the Small Group process is to encourage study among friends, the Shepherd leaders are able to better provide nurture and member care for the students and increase participation among the CARE Group members. The Youth CARE Groups meet in the Center For Excellence, which is located behind the choir loft of the Worship Building. The Youth CARE Groups are as listed below:

21st Century Teen Talks
Last year, the ABIDE Wellness Center was invited to collaborate with the Dept. of Life Development to provide counseling support with regard to specific issues raised by our youth. In response, Ms. Sandra Quick took on the task of securing funding for offering a comprehensive program to address some of the top issues raised in a survey completed by the youth. The 21st Century Teen Talks will provide a great way to help your teens deal with many of the pressing issues of their day. Your cooperation with encouraging their participation is vital to the success of the program. Registration is still available for the second round of groups by calling the message line, 614-930-2200, ext. 709. The spaces are limited so we ask that you get your child pre-registered as soon as possible so that he does not miss out. The Teen Talks began the first weekend of January 2007 at New Salem and will run through January 27, 2007. The second round will begin Saturday, February 17 and will run through March 10, 2007. All Youth, grades Six through Twelve, are invited to participate.
Saturday Night Live
Last Fall, we made the transition from H.Y.P.E. at Mifflin High School to the Saturday Night Live Worship Services on the church’s main campus of 2956 Cleveland Ave. The Saturday Night Live Services started on September 23 and ran through the 40 Days of Purpose. Special thanks are due to all those who participated and attended the Saturday Night Live Worship Services.
